Privacy Policy

Last updated: 18 October 2026

This policy explains how the iOS app SilentLens Private Albums (“SilentLens”, “the app”) and this website handle your information. “I” and “me” refer to the app’s developer. The short version: the app does not collect any data. This matches the app's App Store privacy label, “Data Not Collected.”

1. Data I collect

None from the app. SilentLens does not collect, transmit, sell or share personal data or usage data with me or with any third party. The app has no user accounts, and I have no servers that receive your content.

2. Content you store in the app

Photos, videos, audio recordings, notes, scanned documents, PDFs and other files you add to SilentLens are stored only on your iPhone, inside an encrypted vault.

  • Content is encrypted with AES-GCM. Cryptographic keys are protected using Apple's security technologies.
  • There is no cloud storage, no cloud synchronization and no external vault backup.
  • Vault data is excluded from iCloud backups.
  • Photos captured with SilentLens have sensitive metadata such as GPS location and EXIF information removed before storage.
  • I cannot access, view or recover your vaults or PINs.

Because nothing is stored outside your device, deleting the app or losing the device may permanently delete your vault contents.

3. Encrypted sharing

If you choose to share content, SilentLens encrypts it before it leaves your device. Nearby sharing transfers content directly between devices. Remote sharing produces encrypted content that you send yourself through a messaging app of your choice. That messaging app's own privacy policy applies to the message it carries. Sharing policies such as one-time viewing and expiration are applied by the app. I do not receive or store shared content.

4. Device permissions

SilentLens may ask for access to the camera, microphone, photo library or files so you can capture or import content into your vault. These permissions are used only on your device for the feature you request, and you can change them at any time in iOS Settings.

5. Analytics, advertising and tracking

The app does not collect data for analytics or advertising, and it does not track you across apps or websites. It does not send push notifications. How this website measures visits is described in section 6.

Apple may provide me with aggregated, anonymized App Store statistics (for example, download counts) and crash reports from users who have opted in to share them with developers. This is governed by Apple's privacy policy and settings on your device, not by the app.

6. This website

The iOS app itself still collects no data. This section is only about the website.

This website uses Google Analytics 4 through Cloudflare Zaraz, and only after you opt in. Zaraz shows a consent banner. Google Analytics stays off until you agree. That includes visitors in the European Union, including Italy.

Before you choose, Zaraz sets a technical cookie, cf_zaraz_client, with an empty value. Your choice is stored in a cookie named cf_consent. If you accept, Google Analytics 4 runs through Zaraz and sets a cookie named cfz_google-analytics.

If you allow analytics, Google Analytics collects the pages you visit, an approximate location, device and browser information, and aggregated usage. I use this to understand how the site is used. Google acts as a processor for this data, and it may be transferred outside the European Union. How long it is kept follows the retention settings in Google Analytics.

Cloudflare Web Analytics is also enabled. It is privacy-friendly and cookieless: Cloudflare uses it for aggregate statistics, and its beacon loads from static.cloudflareinsights.com. It does not set a cookie, and it is separate from the Google Analytics choice above.

You can withdraw your consent or change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link in the footer. It opens the consent choices again. That choice applies to Google Analytics through Zaraz.

The hosting provider may process standard technical data such as IP addresses in server logs to deliver and secure the site.

7. Children

The app is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
